En 1979 se formaba en Sunderland, Inglaterra, la agrupación de punk rock conocida cual Toy Dolls. Este proyecto se apoyaba en el sonido de dicha vertiente musical para, directamente, inventarse un extraño mundo en el que el humor de los Monty Python no desentonase con los riffs de guitarra más crudos y veloces. Desde géneros como el Oi! o el pop inventan canciones tremendamente jocosas o revisan clásicos de las radiofórmulas buscando un nuevo sentido a sus formas.
El guitarrista y vocal Michael “Olga” Algar es el único de los miembros fundadores que ha permanecido durante todas estas décadas como pilar reconocible de la apuesta; sin embargo, por los Toy Dolls ha pasado una lista kilométrica que instrumentistas para cubrir los puestos tras el bajo y la batería. En marzo de 1983 se edita su LP Dig That Groove Baby!, cuyo tema título rescato.
